These materials are intentionally and explicitly directed at the newlywed years of marriage. They are intended to be given to engaged couples at the end of their marriage preparation program as a way of extending and strengthening what marriage preparation starts. They make excellent wedding presents, and are also used as supplements to programs for the newly-married.

When the Cake is Gone is based on the "Back to Back, Face to Face and Shoulder to Shoulder" (corresponding to the three vows of Christian marriages) model of marriage enrichment created by Dr. Healy.
